I'm in Love With My Dacor Warming Drawer

It’s the season that I fall in love all over again with my Dacor warming drawer!

As a member of my kitchen appliances, I have to say it is one of my favorites. I can actually prepare all my side dishes ahead of time, place them in my good china and even clean my cookware before my guests arrive for the Thanksgiving feast. All those side dishes stay hot, don’t dry out and the warming draw doesn’t harm my china. I no longer have to face that mashed potato pot at the end of the evening. Believe it or not, sometimes I just warm my plates in order for my dinner to stay warm once plated. For those of you who have warming drawers, make sure you utilize them to full capacity.

Some clients have even incorporated warming drawers in their bathrooms to keep towels warm. The warming drawers are available to accept panels to match your cabinetry.

If you are thinking about a kitchen or bathroom renovation, you may want to consider a warming drawer. I love mine!

The Bustle of the Holidays are Upon Us

I went to get my haircut this morning and the discussion was all about the upcoming holiday season. We talked about who was going where and who was cooking what. It led me into a discussion about how the preparation can be a bit simplified by the process of convection.

Some people were amazed at how you can cook many of your side dishes and desserts all at the same time. You can even cook some of your sides along with your turkey if there is enough room. It seems that many people purchase ovens with great features such as convection and don’t ever use them. Convection is the way to go. It is nothing more than circulating hot air by a fan system which results in no flavor transfer. This way of cooking enables you to do multi-level cooking.

If you are in the market for a new oven, make sure you ask about convection. Almost all the brands offer that feature on their ovens or ranges. Some popular brands are Electrolux, Thermador, Wolf, Dacor, GE, Bosch, and Frigidaire. If you purchase an oven or range from us, we will give you a complimentary convection cooking class with a professional chef. That is always informational and a delightful dinner treat.

Bring on the Bird!

Thanksgiving is around the corner and the phone is ringing about how to cook the perfect turkey.  So many clients have purchased the Electrolux oven with the “Perfect Turkey” button.  Can you imagine that with the wave of your hand, the oven comes alive?  The wave control panel and the features of this oven can promise you will have a juicy, golden brown turkey with the flick of a wrist.

The Electrolux oven has a perfect turkey feature that promises you and your guests a bird to feast on.  The oven comes with a probe that gets inserted to the meaty part of the turkey around the thigh joint.  Once you have prepared your turkey for the oven, just place the probe, touch the perfect turkey button and cook to an internal temperature of 180 degrees.  No need to tent the bird.  Make sure you put the turkey on a rack in your roasting pan and place on the easy glide rack.  Even better, there is no need to pre heat with the perfect turkey button.

Now think about the extra time you have to prepare those scrumptious side dishes.  With the convection mode on your ovens, you can do multi level cooking with no flavor transfer.  Imagine baking your apple pie at the same time as your creamed cauliflower!

For the lucky people who have these features on their ovens, it certainly is something to be thankful for.

Happy Cooking!

A Big Heart & Generosity

Wow! What an event we had here in Appliance World’s showroom on Tuesday evening. We hosted a charity function for Girls Inc., a support program for young girls that has been in existence since the late 1800’s.  The group encourages girls to be strong, smart and bold. They show girls how to discover and get excited about their potential.

What can I say except that our community has a huge heart. Our local restaurants and bakeries donated their time, their culinary expertise and fabulous food. Mascali of East Northport was putting on a fabulous show with his flaming shrimp, great baked clams and the most delicious eggplant rollatini. Rookies of Huntington was here with their famous wings and pigs in the blanket. Honu Kitchen and Cocktails created a fabulous duck appetizer as well as a most delicious butternut squash soup. Old Fields Inn decorated the kitchen beyond belief and made home-style Manhattan clam chowder along with brioche rolls filled with sausage and peppers. A Rise Above does go above and beyond with their homemade cookies. They always contribute to our fund raising events. Kathleen King, one of the honorees, donated cookies from her company Tate’s Cookies. Starbucks never fails to provide us with their great coffee.

We are so fortunate to work with such great businesses. Once again, we were able to raise a significant amount of money for the organization due to the generosity of these establishments. Be mindful, that 100% of the money goes to the charity organization.

My suggestion:  Frequent these restaurants if you are thinking about going out to dinner or lunch. You will experience great food prepared by the most generous and kind people. It’s all about giving back.

Until next time – Happy Cooking!
